Murals for business and commercial projects

Aquarium Mural. Rainforest and jungle murals. Page 2

March 2008. Aquarium of the Lakes. The Lake District. Cumbria. For Creative Theming.

This, the second lakes page covers the rainforest and victorian dive bell areas. My job was to add colour and interest to the otherwise bare walls with murals depicting the creatures on display.

These areas needed to be dark so that visitors could view the creatures, this mean't the murals had to be just bright enough to be seen but not so bright that they distracted the eye.

Rainforest murals, brighten up dark areas around tanks and doorways.

The Rainforest
The rainforest murals were spread over three walls. To allow the best possible views for the creatures on display this area was very dark. I decided to keep the walls dark and have jungle vines growing around the walls. This helps in two ways, firstly by allowing me to paint the various plants and creatures on the vines and secondly by brightening up the area without compromising the view of the tanks.

Rainforest around vivarium tanks
Wall two. Surrounding tanks this mural had vines that wound their way around the walls. In the wild these
vines are an entire ecosystem where many creatures live including insects, frogs and mammals.

The Frogs
Here are the frogs that make an appearance in these rainforest murals.

The Victorian Dive Bell

Relating to the new attraction, (The Victorian Dive Bell) this mural serves the purpose of leading from the rainforest area to the African mangrove swamp area whilst giving the visitor a taster of what is to come with the interactive submergable craft.

With the rainforest murals on each side the roots and vines give a sense of distance to the swamp mural.
